Patent, trademark and copyright issues
The Office of the Intellectual Property Counsel (OIPC) is under the auspices of the Office of General Counsel, and handles all intellectual property-related issues for the Caltech campus and JPL. Patent, trademark and copyright issues may be directed to the office, as well as questions regarding federal (Bayh-Dole) invention reporting requirements, sponsored research and materials transfer agreements.
Copyright Tutorial: The copyright tutorial contains information on copyright basics, as well as on issues that may be of interest to the Caltech community. Links to additional references are also provided within each section of the tutorial. If, after reading the materials, you still have questions, please contact us.
Notices of Alleged Copyright Infringement: Please direct all notices of alleged copyright infringement
on a Caltech-hosted site to OIPC.
Staff: OIPC is managed by the Intellectual Property Counsel, Adam Cochran, and is staffed by 3 additional attorneys and 2 administrative assistants. A separate Staff page is under construction.
