Zotero is the citation management application that the Caltech Library has chosen to support, but there are other options.
We are sunsetting the EndNote desktop subscription when the license expires, so downloads from the IMSS software site will not be available after September 25, 2017. By September 25, all EndNote users with a Caltech-licensed copy of the EndNote desktop client must remove the software from their computers, per the vendor's legal agreement.
If you wish to continue using EndNote after September 25, you may purchase your own copy of EndNote directly from the producer, Clarivate Analytics. Discounted versions are also available from various resellers, and students can take advantage of even higher discounts. In addition, EndNote Web will remain available through 2017: note that this version of the product has fewer features than the desktop client.
If you want to use EndNote Online with Cite While You Write, you can download the EndNote Online Plug-in by logging into EndNote Online, hovering over "Options" and then clicking "Download Installers".
Note: If you use EndNote Online without the desktop your storage space for file attachments will be limited to 2 GB.
You can download a Firefox Extension that will let you save online references directly into your library by logging into EndNote Online, hovering over "Options" and then clicking "Download Installers"
Mendeley is another free option for a citation manager that works on multiple platforms and includes social features.
